Gauteng implements soft water restrictions to prevent system collapse

Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, David Mahlobo, says the Gauteng province will implement soft water restrictions in areas already experiencing supply issues to prevent the system from totally collapsing.

The restrictions will not be limited to Johannesburg but will also include Ekurhuleni and Tshwane.

Flanked by Water Minister Pemmy Majodina and Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, along with other officials, Mahlobo added that load shifting means water will be directed from reservoirs that have a supply to those that need to stabilise the system.
