D3 Energy Ltd (ASX:D3E, OTCQB:DNRGF)South Africa’s footprint in the Free State of South Africa has been further expanded after the country’s oil regulator, Petroleum Agency SA (PASA), formally accepted the company’s three applications for exploration rights (ER391, ER392 and ER393).

The applications cover areas previously managed by D3E as TCPs and are in line with the highly promising ER315 permit in the Free State Province.

Acceptance moves the applications into the next regulatory phase, which now involves environmental permit submissions and public consultation processes.

“The acceptance of these Exploration Right applications marks another meaningful step in advancing our onshore gas and helium strategy in the Free State. It reflects the strong technical foundation we have established across the region and reinforces the momentum building within our broader exploration and development plans beyond our initial Production Right application,” said Managing Director David Casey.

“These new ERs, together with the recent award of TCP 273, strengthen the platform for our next phase of growth and support future assessment activities and potential commercial pathways as our portfolio continues to evolve. We look forward to building on our prominent position as we leverage our growing knowledge and understanding of this unique waterway to significantly de-risk and expand what is already a key, world-class resource.”

The accepted applications have been submitted under Section 79 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002 (Act No. 28 of 2002) and relate to the exploration of petroleum and gas, including helium-bearing potential identified through regional subsurface analyses.

The regulator’s acceptance marks another step in building a broader, strategically important onshore portfolio in South Africa, following progress on the flagship ER315 permit and production right application submitted last year, and supports continued technical and regulatory work in the Free State.

D3 Energy expanded its footprint in the Free State after being awarded a new technical collaboration permit, TCP273, in the Free State province of South Africa, strengthening its position in what the company describes as a world-class helium province.

The newly granted license is adjacent to D3’s existing exploration companies and application areas, including the flagship Exploration Right, ER315, where the company has already applied for an initial production right for part of the license area.

TCP273 covers approximately 83,047 acres (approximately 33,608 hectares), increasing D3’s total allocated and requested footprint in the region to 479,409 acres (approximately 194,010 hectares).
