Armed gang robs Limpopo primary school, steals 60 tablets and laptop worth R163,000

Police in Limpopo have launched an investigation into a business robbery after 60 tablets and a laptop valued at R163,000 were stolen from a primary school in Lemondokop village under the Sekgosese policing area.

Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said: “The police in Sekgosese, under Mopani District are investigating a business robbery incident where valuable items, comprising sixty tablets and a laptop, worth R163,000 were stolen.”

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at approximately 12:40 am.

Police said a male security officer was on duty at the school when he was allegedly confronted and overpowered by four unknown male suspects.

The suspects were reportedly armed with firearms and wore balaclavas.

It is alleged that the suspects broke down a door and forced open a safe where the electronic devices were kept before stealing 60 tablets and one laptop.

After the robbery, the suspects allegedly tied up the security officer and fled the scene in a getaway vehicle.

The security officer later managed to untie himself and reported the matter to police.
