A 34-year-old resident of the farm was arrested by the Ficksburg family violence, child protection and sexual offenses for alleged rape of his girlfriend’s three-year-old son.
Police spokesperson without Mmako Mophiring said that the child’s mother left him under the man’s care while she attended a funeral on a farm nearby on 3 and 4 October.
“When she returned, the child reported that the boyfriend had sexually abused him.”
Mophiring said that the mother immediately warned the police and that the child was taken to the hospital for medical examination.
The suspect was then arrested. He is confronted with an indictment for rape and will appear before the court of Ficksburg today.
