A wet Saturday ahead with thunderstorm warnings in four provinces

Nicely over the western interior Saturdayotherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms in the central and eastern part of the country. Rain and showers can also be expected in places along the south coast and the adjacent inland areas.

Extremely uncomfortable conditions are expected over the far northeastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday.

SA Weather Service warnings for Saturday:

A. warning level 2 for heavy thunderstorms resulting in strong damaging winds, large amounts of small hail/large hail in an open area, and heavy rainfall leading to localized flooding of vulnerable areas (settlements, roads and bridges), and excessive lightning is expected in most parts of the Free State, western parts of the North West and KwaZulu-Natal, and north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape.

b. level 1 warning for damaging winds Along the KwaZulu-Natal coast between Port Edward and Durban, small vessels at risk of taking on water and capsizing in places, and difficulties in navigation are expected, resulting in localized disruption of small ports for a short period.

GAUTENG
Cloudy and cool to warm with isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms.

MPUMALANGA
Partly cloudy in the Lowveld, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thunderstorms, but scattered in the south.

LIMPOPO
Cloudy in the southwest with some rain and thunderstorms, otherwise partly cloudy and warm.

4. NORTHWEST
Cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thunderstorms, but isolated in the east.

THE FREE STATE
Partly cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thunderstorms, but isolated in the far southwest.

THE NORTHERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and warm to hot with some showers and thunderstorms in the east. Things are going well in the West. The wind along the coast blows fresh to strong from a southeasterly direction.

THE WESTERN CAPE
Fine in the northeast, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm. It will be cloudy along the south coast with some showers and rain. Along the coast the wind blows strong to strong from a westerly to south-westerly direction.

THE WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Partly cloudy and cool to warm, but cloudy and windy with some showers and rain in the south. Isolated thunderstorms are expected in the northeast. The wind along the coast is moderate to fresh from a south-westerly direction.

THE EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy, breezy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thunderstorms, but scattered to the north and east. Along the coast the wind is fresh to strong from the southwest.

KWAZULU-NATAL
Cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thunderstorms. The wind along the coast is moderate to fresh from a south-westerly direction, but weak in the north from a north-westerly direction.
