An 80-year-old Freedom Doctor and his teenage grinder were sued after the body of a young man was discovered on their farm.
An older doctor from the Free State and his teenage grinder are confronted with murder attacks after the body of a young man was buried on their farm.
The 80-year-old doctor and his 17-year-old grandson, who cannot be called because the grandson is a minor, appeared on Thursday before the crown city of Magistrate’s Court.
The accused is confronted with various charges, including murder, attempted murder, beating the ends of justice, reckless threat and infringements of the firearms control act.
Doctor and grandson accused of murder
TROKIE and his grandson were arrested on Tuesday by the Bloemfontein South African Police Service (SAPS) TAKE Team.
The police confirmed that the body of a young man was discovered on August 20, 2025 after a tip from members of the community.
The tip led the team to a farm along the road between Kroonstad and Welcome, where the remains were found.

“It is claimed that the deceased was buried on the farm. Because of the advanced statement of decomposition, DNA samples were taken for analysis to confirm the identity of the deceased,” said the Saps on Thursday.
A docket was opened on accusation of murder and the beating of the ends of justice.
The police confirmed that an 80-year-old man was arrested and it was expected that he would soon appear in court. The SAPs added that there was a possibility of an extra arrest.
Grandson released in the care of Guardian
National Connecting Authority Regional spokesperson Mojalefa Senokoatsane said, in accordance with the Child Justice Act, the grandson was released to care of his guardian after his first court.
Senokoatsane said that the case had been returned to Thursday for a formal guarantee application in terms of section 50 (6) of the Criminal Procedure Act.
“The NPA in the free state again confirms its dedication to ensure that those accused of serious crimes are brought to court, while the principles of justice and the rights of all parties involved are maintained,” he said.
