Isolated to scattered showers & thundershowers are expected over the central and eastern parts of the country on Wednesday with severe thunderstorms possible over the central interior, according to the SA Weather Service.

Very cold conditions with light snowfalls in places over the northern high lying areas of the Eastern Cape.

Warnings from the SA Weather Service for Wednesday:

A. level 1 warning for damaging waves leading to localised disruption of beachfront activities between Alexander Bay and Plettenberg Bay from Tuesday morning, while reaching 5.5m south of Saldanha Bay.

B. level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms with large amounts of small hail resulting in localised damage to infrastructure, settlements (formal/informal), property, vehicles, livelihood and livestock as well as localised loss of agricultural production over the Free State and eastern parts of the Northern Cape.

1. GAUTENG
Partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south.

2. MPUMALANGA
Partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers, except in the north. It will be warm in the Lowveld.

3. LIMPOPO
Fine and cool to warm, becoming partly cloudy in the south by the evening.

4. NORTH WEST
Partly cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers and thundershowers, except in the north-east. It will be cloudy in the south-west.

5. FREE STATE
Cloudy and cold with scattered showers and thundershowers.

6. NORTHERN CAPE
Partly cloudy, windy and cold, but cloudy in the east with isolated showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-easterly.

7. WESTERN CAPE
Cloudy in the south-west, otherwise partly cloudy and cold. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly.

8. WESTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy and cold with scattered showers and rain, but isolated in the west. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

9. EASTERN HALF OF THE EASTERN CAPE
Cloudy and very cold to cold with scattered showers and rain. Snowfall is expected over the northern high-lying areas. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

10. KWAZULU-NATAL
Cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers and thundershowers. It will be very cold with scattered showers and thundershowers in the south-west. The wind along the coast will be moderate northerly to north-westerly in the north, otherwise moderate to fresh south-westerly.
