Parly was worried that problematic free state municipalities do not have a functional public accounting committee

Cape Town – The Cooperative Board of Parliament and Traditional Affairs
(Cogta) Committee has expressed a great concern that one of the most problematic municipalities in the free state does not have a functional public account committee to investigate the expenses.

On Tuesday, the mayor of Dihlabeng local municipality of Tseki Tseki told the committee that councilors avoid planned meetings.

It is part of a litany of problems emphasized by the Auditor General, which has encouraged the chairman of the Zweli MKHIZE committee to wonder whether the municipality should be placed under administration.

The African National Congress (ANC) Majority Municipal, including the cities of Bethlehem and Clarens, wants to write R40 million debts that owes it.

While the speaker Nthabeleng Mofookeng said she wants the recommendation to be reconsidered, the municipal public accounting committee cannot be experienced for meetings.

The council also has no permanent mayor’s committee for finance.

Tseki said that councilors miss the required skills for the job.

“In a sense, there seems to be the councilors with respect who are unable not to check the financial reports.”

Pushed by mkhize for an action plan to get the MPAC functional, Tseki passed the goat to speaker Mofookeng.

“Often there has been a fault game, just as there are three -month reports.

TSEKI promised to make a permanent appointment for the mayor financing portfolio within two weeks.
