The Super Slam Cricket Tournament for the senior men in Mpumalanga will kick off in Secunda during October. The player draft took place at the Sasol Recreation Centre on Saturday.
The Secunda Cricket Club is organising this exciting new tournament in association with the Mpumalanga Cricket Union. The organiser of the tournament, Ignus Koekemoer, said the Super Slam is not just a contest of cricketing talent, but rather a celebration of purpose, pride, and preservation.
“With this tournament, we aim to unite sport with social and environmental responsibility. At the heart of the Super Slam is the belief that cricket can do more than entertain. It can inspire, educate, and uplift,” said Koekemoer.
The mission of this tournament is is to raise funds to develop junior and women’s club cricket in Mpumalanga. The teams that will take part in this tournament are Serval Cats, Sables, Highveld Bulls, and Buffalo’s.
The organisers of this Super Slam Cricket Tournament invited all cricket players, fans and sponsors to become part of a movement where every run, wicket, and win contributes to developing the game and the community.
The organisers are planning to add tournaments for U15 cricket players, U19 cricket players, and girls’ teams next year. There are various options available to sponsor this tournament – title sponsor, main sponsor, sponsoring a team or tournament, and legacy award sponsorships that include different options.
