Mpumalanga authorities continue to monitor veld fires

JOHANNESBURG – Officials are monitoring veld fires on the R536 route between Sabie and Hazyview in Mpumalanga.

Thick smoke from the veld fires created dangerous driving conditions since the weekend.

Firefighters, with the help of aerial support, have been working to contain the blaze, which broke out on Sunday.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Authorities are calling on drivers to slow down and maintain safe following distances.
