HTS U14A crowned Mpumalanga League champions | Witbank News

HTS Witbank has made its mark in provincial school sports with an outstanding performance in the Mpumalanga League.

The school’s U14A team came out on top, securing 19-17 in its favour, winning the league after tough matches. The U15 team also showed great skill and finished second with a 15-7 score.

Both the U14A and U15A teams played their semi-final matches in June. They battled hard and won, earning their places in the final round.

The U14A team gave it their all, and their effort paid off; they became the Mpumalanga champions. Now, they are preparing to represent their school in the upcoming Noordvaal playoffs, where the competition will be even tougher.

The coach praised the boys for their commitment, teamwork, and fighting spirit throughout the league. He said the players gave their best on the field and showed true camaraderie.

“It was a tough match, looking forward to the Noordvaal,” said U14A coach, André Ackron.

Even though the U15 team didn’t win the league, they believe that they made HTS Witbank proud.

The season of success for the HTS rugby teams continues as the U14A victory comes after the school’s third team had won the finals against Lydenburg in June, securing a score of 26-7. The U15B team secured a dominant 21-0 win in the Mpumalanga League finals.

“Our Junior Blues did really show their passion for the sports with the principals of the school which is the kingdom of God, the fruit of the spirit as well as the skills,” said the principal, Paul Liddle. “We are proud of both the teams,” he added.

With the Noordvaal playoffs coming soon, the U14 team is focused and ready. They plan to bring all eyes on HTS Witbank as they aim to bring home another win.
