JOHANNESBURG – Just when you thought it was getting warmer, temperatures will drop as a cold front makes landfall this week.
Early mornings and evenings will be particularly cold.
Emergency services are cautioning residents to be careful when using heating appliances.
Earlier this month, 122 families were left homeless after a fire razed their homes in the Kennedy Road Informal Settlement in Durban.
The fire also claimed the lives of a mother and her one-year-old child.
Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Nana Radebe-Kgiba said they remain on high alert
“This winter has been very cold. We’re urging residents to take necessary precautions when using heating devices,” she said.
