Poverty, unemployment cast shadow over Northern Cape

KIMBERLEY – President Cyril Ramaphosa and members of the cabinet are in the Northern Cape.

They are there for the sixth formal engagement between the national and provincial governments. 

This meeting forms part of efforts to strengthen cooperation on service delivery and the government’s ongoing commitment to work closely with local and provincial authorities.

Held under the theme “Unlocking the Northern Cape’s potential as a modern, growing, and successful province”.

Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said the meetings are aimed at facilitating innovative ideas and proposals to address service delivery challenges and skills development.

He said discussions focused on the continued rollout of catalytic economic development,” said Magwenya.

“This includes projects that require deeper cooperation between the national and provincial governments,” he said. 

The meeting also reaffirmed commitments to work together on climate change mitigation initiatives.
