Mpumalanga HOD fired amid contract extension dispute

This follows a dispute over Ntombela’s contract extension that expired in February this year.

According to Ndlovu, Ntombela’s employment contract was extended by his predecessor from March 2024 to September 2024.

When Ndlovu came to office, he extended Ntombela’s contract by five months.

Police are investigating a fraud after the signature of former Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane was allegedly forged to extend Ntombela’s contract to 2027.

The former premier has denied signing Ntombela’s contract extension.

Ndlovu briefed the media in Mbombela on Tuesday.

“It has also come to my attention that a fraudulent activity has been committed, where the former premier’s electronic signature was used in the purported extension.

“There is an alleged payment of R80,000 that was exchanged for the misuse of the former Premier’s electronic signature.

“This matter is viewed in a very serious light. As a result, we have consulted the Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS, Lt-Gen, Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi,” he told reporters.
