JOHANNESBURG – Tributes are pouring in for former deputy president David Mabuza who died last night aged 64.
As a former teacher, Mabuza has been described as an advocate for education as a means of liberation.

Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says the country lost a great leader known for his humility, empathy and philanthropy.
Through his foundation, Mabuza provided bursaries to over 200 students to further their studies. Mabuza was sworn in as Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa on 27 February 2018, and again on the 30 May 2019 for the 6th Administration under President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Former minister in the presidency, Jeff Radebe says the death of Mabuza came as a shock.Â
