South Western Districts and the DHL Western Province XV expanded their winning records on Wednesday on the third day of the FNB U18 Craven Week in Hoërskool Middelburg.
SWD and DHL WP XV recorded their second victories of the competition, while Free State and the Limpopo Blue Bulls came from the goal, after their respective defeats on the first day.
After having closed the freedom of Free State 35-34 in their first essay of the tournament, SLD dominated the collision against the Obaro Golden Lions on Wednesday and scored eight attempts in a thunderous 54-22 victory.
Christiaan Vorster and Jacobus de Villiers scored two attempts each for the Eagles.
Earlier in the day, Limpopo completed an incredible comeback against the Griffons, after a backlog of 19-0 in the first quarter.
Hooker Ziahn Lombaard scored a hat trick, while fullback Ryno Mienie won seven conversions to send their team to an unlikely victory of 49-44.
Fresh from their 52-6 victory at the Griffons, the WP XV achieved another 45 points and seven attempts against the Hollywood Foundation Pumas, with Lock Gershom Pieters and replacement Vooruit Caleb Koeberg who grabbed a brace per piece.
Vrijstaat bounced back from a loss from the first round to SWD and scored seven attempts in a 52-33 victory against the Blue Bulls.
Fullback Lamla Mingezi and No 13 Ethan Adams played the leading role for the winners and scored three and two attempts respectively, while Center Thabiso Simelane claimed a hat trick for the losing side.
The tournament will continue on Thursday in Hoërskool Middelburg, with Sanlam Boland opposite De Valke at 10 a.m., and the Western province who tackles the Sharks High Schools side later in the day.
