Johannesburg – The inhabitants of Gauteng are encouraged to prepare for cold temperatures from Friday.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning for another cold front that has already landed in other parts of the country.
Field fires due to strong wind are also expected.
Prediction Lehlohonolo Thobela insured people in Gauteng that no wet circumstances were predicted.
“It’s just a decrease in temperatures. We have no rainfall expected with the system. Cold temperatures are expected in Gauteng, cloudy from Friday, but you can start seeing a pick-up and development in back-to-winter conditions until Saturday and Sunday.”
In the meantime, the head of the National Weather Service Disaster Risk Department, Rudzani Malala, insisted on communities affected by the cold front to stay up to date with the circumstances.
“We are also calling on communities to play their bit. They have to follow a daily routine that includes that that is aware of developments on the weather front.”
