SANDF stabbing incident leaves two soldiers dead

KOMATIPOORT – The South African National Defence Force has confirmed that two soldiers have been killed at a military base near the Lebombo border.

It’s alleged that one of the soldiers fatally stabbed two of his colleagues. 

One of the colleagues died, while the other sustained injuries. 

The incident took place at the Macadamia Military Base near Komatipoort.

The SANDF is investigating the incident in partnership with the SAPS.

SANDF spokesperson Prince Tshabalala said, “One of our members this morning and took out a knife and stabbed his comrades. During that, one of his colleagues was stabbed fatally and the other was slightly injured.”

“He then stabbed himself on the neck and died. We’re concerned, the next step is that the military side will conduct [an] inquiry and SAPS will institute charges and do investigations and establish factors and take it from there.”
