Durban – The N2 Highway between Port Shepstone and Kokstad in Kwazulu -Natal has now been reopened.
Southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal have been struck by snow since Monday evening, while most parts have experienced heavy rainfall, strong wind and thunderstorms.
The Ministry of Transport in the province said that it sent classes to erase snowfall that blocked parts of the national route.
“The N2 between Port Shepstone and Kokstad is very clear. It is because of the way in which the team collaborated to perform our snowfall response measures and took care of the implementation,” said spokesperson NdaBezinhle Sibiya.
He said that the department closely monitors the weather patterns and warnings, so that they can respond temporarily to challenges.
“We are interaction with SA Weather Service to ensure that we are able to respond to every call for us with a high sense of urgency to protect communities and motorists to save lives.”
