A South African energy company, Renergen, has awarded the preferred status of preference for the phase 2 extension of its Tetra4 Commercial Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) and helium project on the HE4U Consortium.
The Virginia gas projectLocated near Virginia in the Free Staats Province in South Africa, is the first LNG and Helium production facility of the country, says the company. Driven by the Tetra4 subsidiary of Renergen, gets the vegetable natural gas from onshore wells, separates Helium and processes both gases in cryogenic liquid shape for transport and sale.
The HE4U consortium includes map industries, WBHO and Aurex constructors. The contract range includes engineering, purchasing and construction (EPC) of large-scale helium and LNG processing infrastructure, including the cryogenic liquefefactie systems, gas separation units, control instruments, civil and mechanical works and pipeline integration. Chart Industries delivers its own liquid faction technology for both gases, while WBHO and Aurex will manage the development of site, structural works, manufacturing and electrical and instrumentation installation. The entire project will be supplied on a turnkey base with Worley as an engineer of the owner who supervises quality and implementation.
The EPC appointment follows recent technical and regulatory milestones in promoting phase 2 of the Virginia Gas Project. Earlier in June, Renergen Saipem, EPCM Holdings and Sproule mentioned companies that conduct front-end engineering design studies for the LNG and helium facilities, including the processing of infrastructure, pipeline networks and spare assessments. This progress comes in the midst of amplified legal security after the Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources had rejected an appeal that the helium extraction fees of Renergen from disputed, said Stefano MaraniCEO of Renergen.
ASP Isotopes announced his intention to buy Renergen in May, but the deal is still subject to usual steps for approval before it can continue.
