JOHANNESBURG – Farmers are being urged to be vigilant as authorities have detected foot-and-mouth disease in the North West.
JB Marks Local Municipality, in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, is most affected.
Farms linked to the outbreak are under quarantine.

Dr Langa Madyibi, Director of Veterinary Services in the North West, said other districts are being investigated.
“The vaccine has arrived in the country, and our activities start with identifying affected areas,” he said.
“Vaccination is the key strategy.”
