The three free state police officers whose bodies were found from the Hennops River in Centurion, Gauteng, will be honored with official police burial persons.
The victims – Keamogets -Koopt, 30, Boippelo Senoge, 20, and Cebekhulu Linda, 24 – were missing more than five days before their bodies were tragically restored.
They were last seen on Thursday morning, April 24, at a gas station near the Grasmere Toll Plaza In a white Volkswagen Polo Hatchback on the way to Limpopo from free state.
A collective memorial service will be held on Tuesday 6 May, with individual funeral services planned for each agent.
After their disappearance, SAPs launched a large-scale search operation in which police divers, drones and rescue teams were involved. The operation was aimed at the N1 Highway, nearby Waterways and the Hennops River, where their bodies were later discovered.
The vehicle was picked up on Thursday and confirmed that it was the same VW polo where the officers had traveled.
After the repair of the White VW Polo of the Hennops River, the National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola addressed the media and stated that there is no false game suspected in the death of the three missing free state police.
“We are going to conduct an investigation of the car, so that we come to a conclusion about what exactly happened, but from the appearance of the eyes, when you see … The car looks like he first capsized before he had influence on the wall, in the barrier aside, and then it eventually went into the water,” Masemola said.
He said the police investigates a case of culpable murder.
“At this stage it looks like an accident, until we complete and the forensic investigation has done their thorough investigation into the car. Let the public be sure that this is what we have now,” Masemola told reporters.
“For now there is nothing sinister that we have physically seen in terms of, let’s say, shot, bullets, nothing. But of course there are injuries. Doctors will tell us exactly when they will complete their autopsies.”
