“At this stage it looks like an accident until we complete the forensic investigation,” said Masemola.
A white handbag, an identity document, a vehicle service book and keys were some of the things found in the destroyed white VW polo.
It took a lot of manpower of the various search and rescue teams and a heavy tow truck to lift the vehicle out of the river.
When demanding the progress with regard to the autopsies, Masemola said that it was still part of the research, but for now there was nothing “sinister” they had seen.
“Of course there are injuries, but the doctors will tell us exactly [what happened] When they complete their autopsies. ”
Masemola thanked the teams involved in the operation and said: “We can be relieved that we have recovered almost everything that was excellent”.
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi described the recovery of the vehicle as a “sad chapter”.
“We are those who have used their skills and talents to go there, grateful to pick up the car and the bodies. We continue to owe them.”
Senoge’s father Paul said the family was trying to tackle the situation. “I really had future high expectations of my daughter, and now I can’t even pray,” he said.
