The director of a free state school was of the ten people who were arrested by the police for the crowd of justice murder of a man accused of stealing the school food schedule.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring, said that the arrests were made on Sunday by members of the Public Order Police Unit in Namahadi after the brutal murder of the 27-year-old MPHO Mokoena on Friday.
Mophiring said that a group of people, including the school director, Mokoena from the Namahadi area “took violence”, accused him of stealing electrical cables and food intended for the food schedule.
“The group is said to have transported him to the school building in an unmarked private vehicle, whereby some people reportedly present themselves as police officers.
“Once at the school, Mokoena was fascinated and reportedly attacked with Sjamboks in the full view of some students who were present at the time.
“Despite the fact that a student reportedly tried to transport the badly wounded man in a wheelbarrow, Mokoena collapsed at his injuries outside the school building,” said Mophiring.
He was later covered with blankets and death by staff for medical emergency services.
A case of murder has been opened and is being investigated.
Mophiring said that a multidisciplinary team performed an operation on Sunday that led to the arrest of five men and five women.
“The suspects are expected to appear on Tuesday before the Phuthaditjaba -Magistraat, against accusation of murder,” he said.
