Two more sluice gates have been opened – one at 10:00 and the other at 14:00 – at the Vaal dam, bringing the total of open sluice gates back to five, as the dam levels rise to 111.64% owing to heavy inflows from the upstream catchment. The third sluice gate was opened late on Wednesday to manage the water outflows, which are now at 461.090 cubic metres per second (m3/s), to manage the water inflow of 1 332.51 m3/s from the upper catchment.
