The police in the free state started a murder investigation after the discovery of the body of an unknown man in a puddle of blood in turlagte during the weekend.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli, said that officers were called to an open space in the area on Saturday evening 12 April at about 10.45 pm, after a report was received from a person who was immobile on the ground.
“Upon arrival on the spot, officers discovered the body of an unknown man, an estimated between 35 and 40 years old. The deceased was found on his back and wore a black T-shirt, black pants and black shoes with white soles,” said Kareli.
Provisional investigation showed that the victim had contracted a single stab wound at the front of his neck.
Medical emergency help services were called on the spot, but declared the man dead on arrival.
The police say that the motive for the murder remains unclear and no arrests have been made.
“At this stage the identity of the deceased is unknown, the motive for the murder remains indefinite and no one has yet been arrested,” said Kareli.
Authorities are now calling on the public for assistance in identifying the victim or providing information that can help the case resolve
“Anyone who may have information about this incident or who may be able to help identify the deceased, is encouraged to come forward,” said Kareli.
Police investigations are underway.
