Police responded after a woman reported that two adjacent graves at a local cemetery had been disturbed.
The graves fall under the jurisdiction of the Masoyi Policing Precinct.
Officers quickly located the suspect at his RDP home in Swalala.
“In a shocking turn of events, the suspect was found asleep in his bed with the bones believed to be from the graves positioned next to him,” said Mpumalanga police spokesperson Donald Mdhluli.
The man was arrested and charged with violating graves.
“The bones were confiscated and are now part of the ongoing investigation being conducted by the SAPS,” Mdhluli added.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Masoyi Magistrate’s Court.
The investigation is ongoing.
