A 34-year-old man was arrested for murder after his girlfriend was beaten in the free state in the early hours of Sunday.
Sgt Palesa Thabane said that the police received a phone call on Sunday at 2.45 and she called to an address in Nonzamo Park in Brandfort.
“Upon their arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of a 38-year-old African woman who was in the bedroom floor. The body was covered with blood and she had serious injuries on her upper arm and face,” said Thabane.
She said it seemed that the woman reportedly had repeatedly beaten with a wooden stick with her boyfriend, who accused her of cheating him.
“The victim was declared dead on the spot and the police are investigating a case of murder. They have seized a wooden stick covered with blood stains.”
Thabane said the boyfriend was arrested and would appear on Monday in the court of the Brandfort -Magistraat.
