The Free State Health department welcomed 15 Easter babies on Friday morning, with the first delivered in the Nala Hospital in Botaville at 1.15 am.
According to the Department, Annah Mohlo, a 41-year-old from Botaville, has a son’s birth that weighed 2,995 kg.
Spokesperson for the Mondli Mvambi department said that other arrivals include:
- A baby girl with a weight of 2.505 kg born at Uzile Mashini, 33, at 2.35 hours in the Dihlabeng Regional Hospital; And
- A boy with a weight of 3.1 kg born in Patricia Nqola, 34, in the Pelonomi Tertiaire Hospital in Bloemfontein at 2.42 hours.
Free State MEC for Health Monyatso Malatsi congratulated the new mothers and thanked all midwives and support staff for their dedication to better health results of safe deliveries, emphasizing the health and safety of mothers and babies.
He also encouraged the new mothers to follow protocols for their newborns, including delayed cord clamp, thorough drying, assessment of breathing, skin-to-skin contact and early initiation of exclusive breastfeeding.
