The South African Weather Service (SAWS) released its last weather forecast for Wednesday 5 March 2025.

Sawing warns of serious thunderstorms in Mpumalanga, Kwazulu-Natal and the North Cape, while fire wares remain high in parts of the northern and western cape. This is what you need to know.

Impact-based warnings

Fire hazards

Provincial weather forecast

This is what you can expect in your province on Wednesday 5 March:

Gauteng:

Residents of Gauteng can expect cloudy and warm weather with scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Mpumalanga:

Residents of Mpumalanga can expect morning mist along the slope; Otherwise it will be cloudy and warm with insulated to scattered showers and thunderstorms, except in the Lowveld, where it will be partially cloudy and hot.

Limpopo:

The day will be cloudy to partially cloudy and warm to hot conditions with isolated showers and thunderstorms over the central and western parts.

Northwest:

Partially cloudy and warm weather awaits in the residents of North West with isolated showers and thunderstorms.

Free state:

Residents of the Free State will first experience Mist in the East; Otherwise it will be partially cloudy and warm with insulated showers and thunderstorms.

North -Cape:

The day starts with morning misty conditions along the coast; Otherwise it will be partially cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in the northern parts, with isolated showers and thunderstorms but spread in the southeast. It will be fine in the west from the late afternoon.

Western cape:

Western residents of Kaap can expect morning mist along the coastal areas; Otherwise it is good and warm to hot but very hot over the interior. It will be partially cloudy with isolated thunderstorms over the extreme east.

The expected UVB sunbrand index of the region is ‘extreme’.

Residents must take the necessary precautions against long -term sun exposure.

Eastern Cape (western half):

It will be cloudy and cool with fog in places along the coast; Otherwise it will be partially cloudy and hot with isolated showers and thunderstorms but spread in the central west and northwest.

Eastern Cape (Eastern half):

The day will have morning mist in some places; Otherwise it will be partially cloudy and warm with insulated showers and thunderstorms over the interior, but spread in the northeast, spread to the coast west of Eastern London.

KwaZulu-Natal:

Residents of Kwazulu-Natal can look forward to morning mist on the interior; Otherwise it will be partially cloudy and warm to hot with insulated showers and thunderstorms but spread in the west.

The expected UVB sunscreen index of the region is ‘high’.
