Mr Mokgotsi Lazarus, Premier of the North West, missed a golden opportunity today to offer guidance on tackling the province’s many problems.
In an uninspiring State of the Province Address (SOPA) riddled with trite ANC propaganda, he basically just reported on the province’s participation in national projects.
No decisive steps to stimulate economic growth and development in North West were announced.
This is shocking in light of the latest statistics, which indicate that the unemployment rate in North West is a staggering 52% and its economic growth rate is a mere 0,1%.
It is disappointing that Lazarus missed his first opportunity as sitting Premier to give the people of North West hope again.
It is crucial that he and the provincial government realise that North West’s service delivery can only be restored in a healthy economic environment where growth and job creation are stimulated.
