Family members have narrow shave as aircraft crashes at Levubu

A light aircraft made an emergency landing and crashed into the bushes on a farm in the Levubu area on Sunday morning, 23 March. The three occupants sustained injuries and were taken to medical facilities.


The circumstances surrounding the accident remain unclear and are under investigation. From what could be established, the crash occurred at around 11:00. The aircraft belongs to a prominent businessman from Shayandima. By Sunday afternoon, the identities of the pilot and passengers had not been confirmed.


According to information provided to the newspaper, three members of the businessman’s family were en route to a church service in Louis Trichardt when the accident occurred. The injured family members were taken to different hospitals, with one airlifted to a medical facility in Polokwane. It is believed that the other two were transported to a hospital in Louis Trichardt.


An eyewitness reported that the injuries of at least two of the passengers appeared to be minor.


Attempts to obtain comment from the police were unsuccessful.
