Gauteng Hawks have not excluded the possibility of more arrests in the double murder of the officers of the Namahadi visible police unit.
Free State NPA spokesperson Mojalefa Senokatsane said that a third suspect (53) made his first performance in the same court on Monday (20/1) after he was arrested on Friday for the same crimes. He was taken into custody.
The accused will join Marasane Anmony (27) and their Lesotho co-fed Pakiso Lethako (32) on Friday for a possible bail request.
Const. Sipho Mohapi (45) Gideon Motloung (39) was shot and killed on Saturday 4 January while keeping a complaint about a home robbery in Namahadi, Phuthaditjhaba.
“The team assigned to the case works tirelessly to trace and arrest those who have adopted the life of one of us, with these arrests, they promised to bring all those involved to book,” said provincial commissioner Baile Motswenyane.
In the meantime, the case against Jan Dael (52) and Letiscia Adams (42) was arrested in connection with the alleged murder of a former Bloemfontein -Magistraat postponed until Tuesday (21/1) in the district court of Bloemfontein.
The duo appeared on Tuesday shortly after they were arrested for the murder of Piet Bester (63) after his body was found on his house in Glen outside Bloemfontein on Sunday 12 January.
‘The two suspects worked and lived on the farm’
“The suspects will appear on Tuesday (21/1) in their next court in their next court on the Bloemfontein District Court,” said Free State NPA spokesperson Mojalefa Senokatsane.
“The police continue to investigate the alleged murder of Piet -Bester,” spokesperson Lorraine Earle added. “The research officer remains available for more information and appeal to the public for additional details that can help in this case.”
The two suspects in the murder of Bester worked and had been living on the farm for more than 17 years. According to Network24 Dael was a convicted murderer who decided to hire Bester and give a second chance.
