A bus transporting American tourists overturned on the road between Dullstroom and Lydenburg in Mpumalanga yesterday.
The bus crash is amongst six crashes reported in the province in the past two days.
Provincial Safety, Security and Liaison spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, says tourists were enroute to the Kruger National Park.
Mmusi has warned motorists to drive with caution on wet roads.
Rains have been falling persistently in the province since Monday.
Communities in low laying areas are urged to be vigilant.
Mmusi says investigations are under way to establish the cause of the crashes.
“About six crashes have been brought to our attention, although the investigations into these crashes are under way. Two of these accidents actually involved school learners who were being transported to school. But the other incident that occurred is that there were about 18 American tourists who were being transported from Johannesburg to Kruger National Park.
They were traveling between Dullstroom and Lydenburg when the bus that they were traveling in overturned. 18 were injured and then 17 of them were taken to a hospital in Belfast,” he adds.
