Motorists are advised to exercise caution as abnormal loads will be transporting wind turbine components from the Richards Bay Port through several surrounding towns around Ermelo over the next few days.
The convoy, managed by Vanguard, will navigate carefully through these areas with specialised trucks carrying components such as wind turbine blades up to 91-metres long and weighing 33 tons (each).

The South African Community Crime Watch Group (SACCW) shared a video today, 5 February, featuring a woman driving behind the convoy.
She said that she was fortunate her turn-off came up just as she reached the abnormal load. Had she missed it, she said she said she’d probably have been three hours late for work.

SACCW indicated that one of the abnormal loads has entered Ermelo this morning.
Motorists are urged to:
- Plan alternative routes where possible
- Anticipate delays on major roads
- Follow traffic officials’ instructions where applicable
Stay alert and patient as this essential operation progresses safely.
