Free State Public Works donates mathematics and science kits to help students

With the Academic Year 2025 in full swing, Free State Public Works Mec Dibolelo Mays, through the ‘back-to-school’ campaign of the department, donated science and technology sources to schools in the province.

MANCE visited the high school of St. Bernard on Thursday, where she launched the back-to-school project of the province and the first party handed mathematics and science kits to encourage students to choose mathematics and science as secondary school subjects.

The department wants more students to choose a career in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and says there is a need for more skills there.

The kits will make learning the courses for students in class 12 easier and help them successfully complete the academic year, the department said.

“We have realized that mathematics and physical sciences are gateway courses that can have a significant impact on what a student can apply to study at the university – and their future work perspectives. The country needs skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics or it is in danger of being left behind by other countries that will continue with their fourth industrial revolution initiatives, “said Mance.

The donations include laboratory glass work and test tubes.
