Botlokwa policewoman arrested for alleged murder of her son | Review

POLOKWANE – A case of murder and attempted murder has been opened against a 49-year-old policewoman attached to the Botlokwa Police Station.

The woman was arrested last Thursday night (February 13) after she allegedly shot and killed her son (25) and injured his 16-year-old girlfriend at her residence in Mokomene Mashaha.

Police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba said the police were summoned to the scene by the suspect who related what had transpired following a heated argument with her son.

“Upon arrival with paramedics, the police found the suspect’s son motionless with gunshot wounds holding a sharp instrument in his hand. A minor was also shot and sustained serious injuries was transported to a local hospital for medical attention,” his statement read.

Ledwaba said the officer was arrested on the spot and that further investigations will determine detailed circumstances that led to the incident.

He also confirmed that the case is being handled by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid).

The suspect will appear before the Morebeng Magistrate’s Court today.
