Sixteen suspected illegal miners have been arrested in the Vhembe and Mopani districts in Limpopo.
Police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng says 10 were arrested in Bolobedu and 6 in Tshitale outside Louis Trichardt.
The suspects also face a charge of contravening the Immigration Act.
They were arrested during Operation Vala Umgodi.
Thakeng says the suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
