Traffic volumes high on major routes – SABC News – Breaking news, special reports, world, business, sport coverage of all South African current events. Africa’s news leader.

Traffic volumes are high on major routes that include the N4 toll road in Mpumalanga as people head to their festive season destinations – including Mozambique and Eswatini.

The Trans Africa Concessions spokesperson Solange Soares says despite the ongoing post-election protests in Mozambique, the number of vehicles travelling through the Lebombo Border Post has remained steady compared to the same time last year.

Soares has urged travellers to properly plan their trips and remain vigilant especially in Mozambique.

“The situation in Mozambique remains volatile and unpredictable, and thus our urge is to prepare and plan their journeys properly. We’d like to remind people that border operations are not reliable at this stage, and therefore, in the event of things not going the way authorities have planned, then we urge road users to prepare in terms of making sure they pack enough water should they be stuck in the traffic delays at the border, enough food.”
