The Eastern Cape’s first Christmas baby was born just two minutes after midnight at Madweleni Hospital in Elliotdale. So far, 104 Christmas babies have been born in the province, of which 57 were boys and 47 were girls.
Eastern Cape Ministry of Health spokesperson Mkhululi Ndamase confirmed the birth and shared some additional details. “We can also confirm that the first baby was born at Madweleni Hospital this morning at 12:02 am, while a special birth also took place where a mother, who herself was born on December 25, gave birth to twins at the regional hospital .
