The ANC says Jabu Mbalula will not take over as Free State premier from scandal-hit Letsoha-Mathae

He said the Prime Minister appointed Mbalula, who is also the MEC for community safety and transport, because she “deemed” him “fit enough”.

Provincial chairman of ActionSA Patricia Kopane questioned Mbalula’s appointment.

She said the ANC quickly appointed Mbalula, the brother of the ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalulabecause acting Prime Minister raises suspicion about the integrity of the party’s actions.

“This decision, taken immediately after Prime Minister Letsoha-Mathae was placed on leave, appears to be a calculated move that puts political loyalty above real responsibility,” Kopane said.

“ActionSA questions the timing and motives behind Mbalula’s appointment as it undermines the ANC’s claims of commitment to the fight against corruption.”
