Mozambique unrest| Government accused of violent crackdown on protestors

JOHANNESBURG- Opposition protests continue to intensify in response to Mozambique’s recent presidential election results.

Incumbent President Daniel Chapo of the FRELIMO party was declared the winner, but accusations of fraud and election manipulation have sparked widespread demonstrations.

On Thursday, the government responded with force, using tear gas and live ammunition to disperse crowds.  At least 18 people have died after weeks of protests and these include key opposition members.

Analyst Fredson Guilengue, from the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in South Africa spoke to eNCA.
