Ramathuba is also aiming to reduce unemployment rate to 14% and decrease the percentage of people living in poverty to 20%.

Ramathuba made the remarks at the official opening the two-day Limpopo Investment Conference in Polokwane on Thursday.

“Our government has set ambitious economic growth targets to improve the situation for the people of Limpopo,” she said.

“The primary goal for this fourth Limpopo Investment Conference is to attract new investors and sustain those who have been there, that could catalyse sustainable and inclusive economic growth across all key sectors.

“We are grateful for those who have in the past years made commitment to grow this province and have gone on to implement such undertakings.

“They have contributed to number of jobs that make us count as the top two provinces that are creators of jobs in South Africa in 2023 and quarter two of 2024.”

The conference, which will conclude on Friday, aims to generate R100 billion in new investment pledges.
Â
Since the inception of this conference, it has generated R162 billion in pledges with R61 billion already implemented across various projects in the province.
Â
The investments have translated into the creation of 51,000 of temporary and permanent jobs in the province.Â
