DURBAN – KwaZulu-Natal disaster management teams are on high alert after a Level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms, including damaging winds, excessive lightning and hail.
Parts of Zululand in the Northeast of the province are expected to be worst hit.

The weather service expects heavy rain and hail accompanied by strong winds.
Authorities are urging people to avoid outdoor activities to prevent lightning strikes.
They are also being warned to take care near fast flowing streams and rivers.
