‘Food poisoning’ causes dozens of students in Bloem to end up in hospital

The students of Ihobe Primary School in Phahameng reportedly ate chocolate bought from vendors at the school.

Free State Health spokesperson Mondli Mvambi said the children were taken to Pelonomi Hospital.

“They suffer from stomach cramps; when this incident was noticed, some other parents came to take their children home, but when they got home, the children developed complications and were taken to the hospital.

“The good news is that the person seen at Netcare has been discharged. There are only four children left in hospital. One of them is still admitted and three are being prepared for discharge.”

This is the third suspected food poisoning incident in the province in just one day.
