Discussion | Abandoned mines, rehabilitation and artisanal mining

JOHANNESBURG – The Mineral and Petroleum Resources Department says it is not responsible for the surge in illegal mining. 

While claiming progress in rehabilitating abandoned and ownerless mines, the department faces mounting calls for artisanal mining to be legalised.
