41 children from Mangaung primary school become ill after ‘eating chocolate’

Forty-one students from Ihobe Primary School in Phahameng received medical attention when they suffered stomach cramps at Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein after allegedly eating chocolates.

Free State Health Department spokesperson Mondli Mvambi said there were no symptoms of vomiting or diarrhea.

Three of the 41 children were hospitalized, but two were later discharged and one, a 10-year-old boy, was held for further treatment for other unrelated conditions that were exacerbated by the alleged food poisoning.
