WC govt: Clean audit outcomes a testament to commitment to financial discipline & good governance

CAPE TOWN – The Western Cape government has achieved clean audits in all 14 departments and its eleven business entities for the 2023/2024 financial year.

The provincial government said this was the second consecutive year that it had achieved 100% unqualified audits following another clean audit report achieved in the previous year.

The Western Cape government said that clean audits were necessary for all provincial governments considering the country’s financial crisis.

According to the government, the clean audit outcomes were evidence of its commitment to financial discipline and good governance.

“The audit outcomes are a testament to the WCG’s commitment to financial discipline and good governance. This is because we know that service delivery to our residents depends on ensuring that every cent is spent diligently and responsibly,” said the provincial Finance MEC, Deidre Baartman.

Baartman added that financial discipline was vital to attract investors to the province.
