CAPE TOWN – With more than a dozen police officers appearing in court in one week on numerous charges, the Western Cape Police Commissioner is turning to technology to monitor his officers.
If Thembisile Patekile had his way, body cameras would immediately be fitted on his men and women in blue.
He’s warned SAPS members to refrain from acting outside the law, saying as painful as it is to arrest their own, police won’t hesitate to do so.
Since April, approximately 32 SAPS members have been dismissed in the Western Cape.
