The Sol Plaatje Municipality Driver’s License Testing Station in Kimberley will be closed today after the Road Traffic Management Corporation’s anti-corruption unit and police raided the offices yesterday, resulting in the arrest of some officials.
Five people were arrested in the Northern Cape yesterday for allegedly issuing fraudulent driving licences.
Municipal spokesperson Thabo Mothibi says necessary measures are being taken to replace the arrested staff members.
“Our motorcycle registration center will be closed. We are trying to make the necessary arrangements to have personnel who will perform the kind of functions that were performed by our arrested officers so that we can be operational again on Monday and the usual services will be offered again to members of the public those who – will enter for motor vehicle registrations, driver’s license, driver applications, and so on.
